Sept. 24 and 25, 2022 Sonja Rosing exhibited at the gallery.
When Sonja Rosing receives a box of tubes of paint as a gift at age 25, it is the beginning of an artistic journey of discovery for her.
The paint tubes challenged Sonja to paint and draw. She applied to the art academy in Groningen, where she graduated in 1991. She had found her passion.
In addition to drawing, painting and graphic work, over the years she discovered a love for spatial work and photography.
Sonja meditates twice a day according to the method of Transcendental Meditation. She has studied consciousness and Eastern philosophy. Consciousness became the main theme in her visual work.
Sonja spends a lot of time in nature. She draws there, takes pictures, collects materials and walks. Thus, the project “366 Sunrises the Art of Living” was born in 2016. For 366 days, she was outside every morning during sunrise.
During the guest exhibition, Sonja shows a multitude of techniques: painting with homemade egg tempera and watercolor, drawing, photography, video and spatial work. There are abstract and figurative works. As Sonja says, “I love both and don’t have to choose from myself.”
Sonja is a member of artist association Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam and Kunstenaars Flevoland.
