My conceptual art is created in the studio.

What I create I show in the gallery,

often along with work by colleagues.

ATELIER

Space and limitation, freedom and unfreedom are recurring themes in my work.

How much space do you need to be yourself?

Can you create your own space or do you make yourself dependent on others in doing so?

Many of my works are created by playing with casts of my body parts.

I then look for images that express oppression or constriction.

Or who are self-aware and powerful.

Or conversely, withdrawn and inward-looking.

The works often have rough edges and blemishes,

which refers to the imperfection of life, to decay, pain and being wounded.

I like to show that, because there is often tremendous beauty in precisely that.

A special friend summed up my work:

Trapped growth needs space, and boldness. Cross-border.

Haiku, Katrien Ruitenburg

You can also eat my work 😉 and wear it.

GALLERY

Open Studio Insight

Every 2nd Saturday of the month, 6 artists in Nunspeet and Elspeet open their studios and/or galleries.

I am usually open on Sundays during that weekend as well, as I invite a colleague to exhibit with me in my gallery.

It is always a treat to see how the combination of our work produces surprises.

I enjoy it when the works reinforce each other.

Sometimes by sanding,

another time by the color combinations,

or by the parallels in material use or theme.

Guest exhibitors in the gallery:

Participating artists Open Studio Insight:

  • Harmke Zwep, ceramics
  • Gerri Raap, paper art
  • Emmie Vos, stained glass and Tiffany
  • Guill Hombergen, painting
  • Margot Bechschebe, textile art

Open during studio days

Between exhibition weekends, I use the gallery for my own work.

To play and build new installations.

To discover new combinations and stories.

Often the door is then open for visitors.

When the flag is out I am open.

SELL

Much of my work and that of my guest artists is for sale during the open days.

It is nice to be able to see the work in real life.

Then you will have a better idea of the dimensions and material.

And you can better experience what it does to you.

But also in addition to the open days, I am happy to show you my studio,

see my gallery and thus my work.

If you’re in the area, just stop by.

And otherwise, you can always make an appointment.

Maybe you see something on the site that you would like to see up close or

whose price you want to know. Send me a message

and I will be in touch.
